Your Mission Should You Choose to Accept

Whenever an undercover agent receives an assignment in movies, it’s always an enormous task, one that entails saving a multitude of people or the destruction of life as we know it. It’s filled with the very real threat of danger and imminent death - and most assuredly amazing adventures and super cool gadgets and state of the art technology...

When this "Trajectory" mission was given, I could have chosen not to accept it and remain safe and comfortable with life as normal, but just as it always plays out in the movies, that was never really an option. When the task was assigned, it was clear that He was giving this task to me. I know that despite my incredibly numerous inadequacies, God sees the bigger picture - and after years of training in the mission field of ministry, I have learned to trust His leadership above all else - especially my own doubts and fears.

Just as the missions assigned in the movies, this would be an enormous and costly endeavor, but the knowledge that Satan is out to steal, kill and destroy, coupled with the knowledge that I, along with my fellow believers, carry with us a message powerful enough to save lives, meant walking away was never an option. I’ve been on difficult missions before and I'm aware of the very real threat of danger and death before me. Satan will use everything and everyone he can to stop us and thwart the mission of reaching the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There will be injuries inflicted and there will still be casualties - but the loss of souls will be exponentially greater if nothing is done.

So the mission has been accepted and there are many adventures ahead of us - and yes, it’s been filled with cool gadgets and technology, most of which I haven’t fully figured out yet. I definitely feel more like Maxwell Smart than Ethan Hunt most days, but I know God is able to do more than I can think or imagine - and I have Agent One with me, the Master of all Missions who defeated Satan to save us all. He is the true mastermind behind this mission and I know that with Him, it’s not mission impossible - it’s Mission Possible!

"Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'" Matthew 19:26

Is there a mission He has given you that feels impossible?

Even the task of sharing our stories of what God has done in our lives, or coming out of the shadows to be a witness for Him, can be an extremely daunting assignment. Relying on God isn’t easy, especially when the task at hand takes us way, way out of our comfort zone - but that’s precisely when He writes the most amazing stories of faith in our lives. When we cease to believe we can do it in our own strength and trust solely on Him, He is able to do more than we can think or imagine. The task may be impossible in your own power - but with God in control, all things are possible! He knows what He is doing and He also knows you.

What is “your mission should you choose to accept?"
